The Battle of San Jacinto took place on April 21, 1836, in Harris County (Texas).In this battle, the Texian army defeated the Mexican army.The Texian army had been fighting for its independence from the Mexican army for several months and had suffered several defeats. The Texian army had 900 men in this battle and the Mexican army numbered about 1,300.

On April 21, 1836, the Texian army attacked the Mexican army while they were resting, the Texian victory.
In this battle, the Texian army was led by General Sam Houston and the Mexican army was led by General Antonio López de Santa. The fight only lasted 18 minutes. Texas became an independent republic after this battle. so April 21 is celebrated as “The Battle of San Jacinto Day”.

The battle site is now a historical place .The San Jacinto Monument is a massive monument located at the site of the Battle of San Jacinto.
It is the tallest monument in the world. This monument is 567.31 feet (172.92 m) tall which is higher than the Statue of Liberty.
